They played just 4 songs of the new album, maintaining the attitude all the way.Īnd obviously, they closed with "What You Know". The biggest surprise for me was that they included "Eat That Up, It's Good For You" and all the classics were there. They actually focused on the oldies starting with "Cigarettes in the Theatre" and "Undercover Martyn". In terms of the setlist, it was very balanced. The stage was great with the rectangles of the cover of the new album lighting up with the rhythm.
I have been waiting for them to play "Not in this town", but I'll keep waiting. They are always worth it since their music is so upbeat and energetic. The club in Las Vegas was opened by Moe Taub in 1944. The Cotton Club in Portland was opened by Paul Knauls in 1963. The club in Lubbock, however, was home to more white artists than the Harlem club. I would suggest for anyone and everyone to go to one of their concerts. The Lubbock club was opened on Novemby Tommy Hancock, and was an integrated club, not unlike the Chicago club. It was just spectacular and I was definitely sad when it ended. I loved the graphics they had set up behind them and the lighting cues. The rest of the show was mind-blowing and they tricked us (me, at least) about their final song. The tour kicks off in Melbourne on November 21 st and wraps at Brisbane’s brand new Fortitude Music Hall on November 29 th. Two Door Cinema Club came on stage with a really great, in a way interactive introduction that led into Talk. My only gripes are with the people who attended, not the TDCC. There were also some rude people there yelling at the band. There were people smoking weed and vaping during the show which I didn’t mind but others might.
Even the opening band, Peach Pit, gave a really great show. Preceded by singles ‘Are We Ready? (Wreck)’ and ‘Bad Decisions’, the new album exhibits the sound of a band back in their stride, with a creative fire in their loins and a whole new centred sense of purpose.The show was AMAZING! I have not a single negative comment about the music or the performance in general. Re-energised by their self-imposed hiatus, the Irish trio made their live return this summer with a huge set on the main stage at Glastonbury, followed by headline slots on the NME / Radio 1 Stage at Reading & Leeds and Belladrum Festival, Inverness. Tickets go on general sale on Friday 30 th September at 9am. Two Door Cinema Club announce an extensive UK headline tour, kicking off at O2 Academy Birmingham on January 24th 2017 and concluding at Alexandra Palace, London on February 10th.
